Karma

from Earl Hickey:
Karma is..
Do GOOD things and GOOD this will also come to you..
Do BAD things and it will come to haunt you.....

Last Tuesday!.. yeah!! just this tuesday....
August 14 to be exact.....

It's our project's UAT(User Acceptance Test)/Performance Test..
so everyone seems jumpy and on their toes.....

Since I'm basically waiting for my counterpart's GO signal...
so I'm sort of preparing everything...
and I saw this newbie...
it's his 1st time being Primary Oncall in our project..
and it seems like everything is going good in his Oncall duty...

Time to act like an ASS :-D

I was like:
Yo! 1st time being Primary Oncall eh!!...
and nothing is failing....

Hey you need to go through our ..
fucking experience during our ON call duties somewhere last year..
wherein we can't almost do our task all we do all day was to..
watch the batch and resolve failures...

oh!! crap!! those were the days......

and I started to swear at him :)...

I wish that you got some freaking failure..
around the end of you're oncall schedule..
something that has to do with the Tables..
which is hard to replicate........

AHHHH i got it!!...
The snapshot error and table space issue...
everyone laughs.... and he was like....
asking everyone..
Is it really that hard to resolve those issue..
and we were HELL YEAH!!!.................

SNAP!!!!

OK!! the GO signal came...
I started the interface, I checked the data that it will..
process and it's 8 Mil rows...
hmmm... seems we're going to wait for a while...
after a 3 hrs... the job failed... FUCK!!!!

when I checked the error it's
a DB error:
SNAPSHOT TOO FUCKING OLD!!!

As adviced by the DBAs I re-ran the interface...
after 3 hours again....
guess what it FAILED.....
guess again.....
another DB error..
and it's
TABLESPACE ISSUE IT'S ALREADY FULL!!!

I left everything to my US counterpart..
for resolution...
hey!! it's already 11 pm here.....

Guess what???!!!!
everything works fine!!!!!

and I was!!

Fuck You KARMA I'll get you someday!!!! :)
